I used the current Paper Pumpkin kit, Daisy Daydream on this 1 page layout. I also used the quarterly add on dies for the smaller bees and honeycomb. I gutted the DSP to save a good sized piece. I don't like wasting DSP with it just being behind another layer. Here is my finished layout.
This was basically an easy design. The work went into stamping and embellishing. I didn't have Crushed Curry CS so had to improvise to be able to use the bees. I also wanted to use the quarterly add on dies for the honeycomb as well. I took a piece of white shimmer cs and a small blending brush. With the blending brush decently saturated with Crushed Curry ink I went over the white shimmer cs and made my own Crushed Curry shimmer cs. I did the same for black to use on the bees that I made with the add on dies. The Crushed Curry parts of my black bees are individually glued into the 3 open spaces leaving the wings clear. I did the same with the Crushed Curry shimmer bees adding the 3 black shimmer pieces cut from the add on dies. I show this in an image below. I must have been crazy at the time!!
The "daisies" in the kit are very white with a little shadowing. I used a dauber and Crushed Curry to very lightly add a little color to the petals and also the edges.
Honeycomb is stamped with Crushed Curry and VersaMark and heat embossed with WOW Clear Embossing Powder.
Edges of White Willow CS behind picture and journal card are inked on edges with Crushed Curry.
Here is a collection of what I did to gut the DSP and place the parts on the bees.
Top 2 are what I did to gut the DSP. I measured what I wanted left for edges and used the Paper Trimmer after lightly drawing lines to have a cut guide. I did this on the backside of the DSP but when done very lightly with pencil it erases easily so can do on the front side of DSP if preferred.
Here is the sketch!
If you give this a try I would love to see your completed layout. I would love to post it as a primary post to my Facebook page if you like. Just send me an email or comment below and I will get in touch with you. If you don't want to do that feel free to post in comments where you see my main picture of this "Hello Spring" layout.
Happy creating,
